May old acquaintance...

Be forgot...

And all that clichéd Happy New Year stuff.

I kind of drifted away from this in November when Uni got really busy, however I feel it's a good thing to do and so it can be my resolution!

I'll give you a quick catch up on what you've missed:
- 20th birthday... Old!
- Went camping in the first round of snow
- Finished a busy term at uni (Y)
- Did really well in one of my modules (Y)
- Christmas holidays started
- New phone (Y)
- Snow fell
- Flights to America got cancelled (N)
- Got busy in England instead
- Our pipes froze (N)
- Then our boiler broke (N)
- Boiler and pipes got fixed (Y)
- Christmas day = lots of food (Y)
- Left overs (N)
- Went sales shopping in Westfield... fairly successful
- New Year's Eve... awesome pyjama party (Y)
- Then just wasting time until going back to uni.

Pretty eventful...
Anyway, I go back to up to Nottingham on sunday and uni starts on Monday. I'm really looking forward to this term... We have some really cool projects. I may of course go back on that and say I hate it when I'm stressed in a few weeks so don't hold me to it.

Over the last term at uni my sleeping pattern flipped and I'm basically nocturnal now... Hence my writing at 2:20am. It's not good at all. I really need to sort it out!! The only good thing that has come out of it so far is my new a favourite playlist, "Easy like...". It's name is taken from the song Easy Like Sunday Morning due to the fact that all the songs on the playlist are easy listening and relaxing. I like to just lie in my bed listening to it and think about nothing else but the words of the songs. My favourite song on the playlist is Brandy Alexander by a Canadian singer-songwriter, Leslie Feist, AKA Feist. Her stuff is beautiful and unique... Definitely give her a listen.

I also, as always, have a URL for you check out. If you have read my bio you will know that I am a radio presenter for my university radio station Fly FM. I host the Breakfast show on wednesday mornings with my co-host, James Clarke. I now have an official page for the show on Facebook which you should all go and 'like'! Here it is.

After that huge post I'm going to attempt sleep again... Wish me luck!

Your jobs a joke, you're broke...

Your love life's D.O.A...

Yup, I'm watching Friends.

Good evening dudes and dudettes. Yesterday was pretty hectic so I didn't get round to posting. So to make up for it I will make this post as extra-special as I can.
To fill you in on my sunday/monday... Yesterday I packed up my suitcase of 2 and a half weeks and came back to Nottingham. I got home to find out we now have wireless in my flat (yay!) but it didn't work (boo!). About half an hour after arriving back my flat mates persuaded me to go to a Halloween house party and so I threw on a make-shift costume and some "scary" make up and off we went. Over all it wasn't a brilliant party but at least I got to do something vaguely Halloweeny!
Today was going-back-to-uni-after-doing-awesome-work-for-two-weeks day and so was very unproductive. Oh well. Then some retail therapy in Tesco Express and two mini pizzas for dinner. =D

Now, we all love Friends (I'm talking about the TV programme but I'm sure you love friends too) and it's The One With the Boob Job. Not my favourite of episodes but still funny as ever. I find the old episodes a lot funnier than the newer ones. Agree or disagree?

Today's song is an oldie that never gets old. A favourite in the Oceana disco room, this tune never fails to get people off their feet. By the wonderful Wham!, this song is definitely in my top 10 of songs ever made in the history of man... ever. It is of course Wake Me Up Before You Go Go! Ledg-en-dary.

Another URL for you to add to your "Archie's URLs" bookmarks folder is the website of Nathan Sawaya. He is a Lego brick artist... so he makes sculptures out of Lego bricks. Sounds weird at first but his stuff is incredible!

Rightyho... I'm off to the Cinema now to see Vampires Suck. I will let you know what I think of it.

Always let your conscience...

Be your guide...

If ever you are in need of turning round to someone and saying "Why won't you listen and let me do what I want?!" then I recommend you have a careful listen to the lyrics of Higher by the Saturdays for inspiration. I absolutely love this song. It's one of those songs that comes on on my iPod whilst I'm walking and I suddenly feel like I can do anything, causing an automatic smile. It's truly uplifting. Major kudos ladies (and of course Flo Rida).

Whilst you're reading, check out Graze. Now, I'm not one for healthy food, but this website is pretty much genius. Simply tell them the kind of things you like to eat and they deliver you boxes of fresh food as often as you like. I tried this out a few months ago and they deliver without fail. The food is also really really good!

Now I'm off to watch the gorgeous Gavin Henson on Strictly Come Dancing.
Don't judge.

Ain't no mountain high...

Ain't no valley low...

Good afternoon ladies and gentle-ladies.

After a lovely lie in this morning I woke up and did the usual checking of Facebook.
I saw my friend had shared a link to The new T-Mobile advert. I watched it, only to find myself wishing that this would happen in everyday life. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Either way, it's a brilliant video and so it's my URL for this post.

Leading on from that... One of the songs in the medley reminded me of this song which is one of the greatest songs in the world. Now you may think I picked 'the wrong version', but Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell did a brilliant duet and it's my favourite version so :P

I will probably post again later tonight...

Until next time,

Wake Up!

It's a beautiful morning...

Good evening guys and gals.

I just got home from a very long day.
We were in Notting Hill filming today and it was rather nice to window shop at all the designer stores.
It was also the last day of filming (booooo!) which meant that the costumes were being sold off after the actor's refusal.
I managed to spot a pair of jeans for £20 which happened to fit me perfectly... it was fate!
So overall a good day.

So, today's song is Dancing With The DJ by The Knocks. As some of you may know, I work on my student union's radio station, Fly FM, which plays a variety of current music. I like to look at the playlist each time it's updated to see if I will like the songs on it and try to get to know them. Last night the playlist was updated and this song is on it. I liked the title so off I went to our dear friend, You Tube, and had a listen. After about 1 minute I fell in love with the song and so I have added it to my November 2010 playlist on iTunes*.

Today's URL is a fairly interesting one. Now, we all have that crazy aunt who we love and in some way look up to. My crazy aunt is called Lisa and she is an artist. She also loves coffee... hence her blog, Love Coffee & Art. She is funny and creative which is why you should read it... also because I tell you to.

Other than all of that wonderful news, there isn't much to say apart from I'm truly exhausted and need my bed.

* Each month I make a playlist on iTunes which I put every song, that I download in that month, onto. Makes sense eh?

28.10.10

Let's start at the very beginning...

It's a very good place to start.

I'm Archie.
19.
Student.
Nottingham Trent Uni.

I'm currently staying with my family in London whilst I do work experience with the BBC on a low budget film.
It's called Rules Of Love and it's a musical aimed at teenagers... a bit like High School Musical.

It's been pretty awesome so far and the last day of filming is tomorrow.
We will be in Notting Hill and I have never really been so I'm quite excited.

Now i'm determined to make something of this blog so I will be having two features:
- Song of the post
- URL of the post

They explain themselves really...

So my song for you all today is Check It Out! by will.i.am and Nicki Minaj.
A rather interesting collaboration both in artists and sounds. They have taken the backing from "Video Killed The Radio Star" and added their own lyrics of the top. When I first heard it I thought it was awful. However, after a few listens it has grown on me and it's strangely catchy.
I recommend a listen, even if it's only once.

And now for the URL...
Now, for those who dont know me, I'm a massive fan of jewellery. Particularly jewellery that stands out and makes people say "that's really cool". My favourite necklace is a silver chain with a crisp as the pendant. It looks exactly like a McCoy crisp (although people sometimes think it's a Pringle) and people comment on it no matter how many times they have seen me wear it. It's from a company called Tatty Devine. Here's me wearing it... (I'm a bit of a poser)

So. There you have it. My first post. I hope you enjoyed your recommendations for today and I will try and post most days.
